Keeping on the same theme as our last blog post about blog posts (blog post-ception), there’s a little something extra you can do to drive reader engagement. While Mondays and Thursdays at 7am have been cited by Kissmetrics as peak publication time for potential guests to link your content to their friends, it can be challenging to get alluring posts online before the start of the average work day.
As the old saying goes: Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
Research, write, and edit your posts well in advance of publication. We understand that this may not always be possible, particularly for breaking news. But if you’re publishing tried and tested tips and tricks, for example, use WordPress and other content management systems to schedule the date and time of publication. You could even reduce your workload by backdating more generic posts for a number of weeks. Copy the links generated to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram but leave its publication pending. Business pages on social media offer all sorts of delayed sharing options. Don’t hesitate to take a nose around their various ‘Settings’ pages to see what you discover. Just because you aren’t there to click ‘Publish’ doesn’t mean it can’t go live!
By the time you arrive at your desk, coffee in hand, your post will have been awake for hours, garnering views and shares. When it comes to online brand identity, automation and publication go together like bread and butter.
Stand by for our final Blogging on Blogging post. The effectiveness of the medium and its reach on social media should not be underestimated. We’re here to tell you why!
