Blogging on Blogging #1: Publish on Weekdays, Not Weak Days

There’s a whole lot that can be done to drive engagement online. Strategies range from SEO to PPC to email marketing to curating an active presence on social media. Each yield different results though ultimately strive to achieve the same overarching goal: attract guests and win their custom.

If you post a special offer on social media, send out an email marketing campaign, or publish a blog post, the rate of engagement and CTR (Click-Thru Rate) is correlated not only with the time of day, but also the day of the week.

According to Kissmetrics, blog posts average the most views on Monday morning around 11am. Employees need to ease into the work week and it’s around this time that they’re reaching for a coffee and a quick read to refocus their mind. Want them to link your post to their friends? Consider publishing your news around 7am on Mondays and Thursdays. That way, they’re likely to come across it on their morning commute.

While these days and times aren’t set in stone, they’re useful guides. It’s always a good idea to do your own testing. Many companies find Tuesday mornings to be a fruitful time for feedback. But that can all depend on the audience you’re hoping to reach. Perhaps some A/B Split Testing could work wonders to reveal which publication strategy yields the best engagement results for you.

Certainly, publish on weekdays but avoid weak days. And don’t worry, it’s safe to take Saturday night off the table!
